The St. Joe’s Bisons Club, Est. 2/1/18
Mission Statement

The Bisons Club dedicates itself to keep in touch with our High School friends and to help our St. Joe Alumni’s grandchildren and great grandchildren with some of their higher education costs. The club also makes donations to other worthy causes, for example:

n  The Tom Byrne Memorial Scholarship Award (in 2022, we gave 4 such awards this year and to date, we have given 20+ of these awards)

n   An annual donation to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital

n  Hot Stovers Baseball Club of South Jersey

n  Gloucester County Special Services Educational Foundation in name of our former alumnus Tom Byrne in which the Bisons Club sponsors a student with this award.

n  In support of our members who were elected into the Camden County Sports Hall of Fame with an ad in the Program Book.

n  Donations to the New Jersey Veterans Home in Vineland, NJ.

n  Toys for Tots Drive together with the Runnemede VFW Post 3324 where gifts are given to the Camden County DCP&P Services (formerly DYFS).

n  This year we have added “Semper Fido” which is a non-profit organization committed to the rehabilitation of Service Members who have been injured physically and/or mentally while performing their service to our country. This organization rescues dogs, rehabs them, trains them and then provides them free to our disabled Veterans to aid in their recovery.

We are willing to help wherever and whoever we can. Please inform us if you know of a need in which we may offer our help.

Our Club raises funds through various means

·        One-time dues from each member and at present. We currently have 153 members.

·        We have received donations both named and anonymous from various sources within and outside of our Club.

·        We hold an annual Bisons Club Social which this year will be held Nov. 12, 2022, at the Runnemede VFW Post 3324.

·        The Bisons Club Open Golf Tournament where our 5th one was held at Pinelands Golf Course this past May in which 84 players participated.

·        We sell golf and tee shirts with our logo on them.

·        The “Bury the Hatchet” axe throwing fundraiser was successful but unfortunately, COVID put a damper on the event. We hope to continue it again soon.

·        We also have begun our annual Bisons Club/VFW Dance Party picnic which took place in September on the VFW grounds. It was a great success and hopefully will continue in the future.

·        Toys for Tots luncheon is held December in which all members and their guests can enjoy a free lunch and drop off toys. We have been told DCP&P that our toy donations are the best they have ever seen.

Our club meets the last Wednesday of each month at the Runnemede VFW for lunch, some business and a lot of laughs and memories of our days at St. Joe’s. Stop by to say hello and pick up your ticket to the “FALL SOCIAL”
